I did not grow up in the era that this book is set in, but this book paints vivid portraits of each setting and scene it feels like a time warp. I found myself pausing in reverie remembering some of my own explorations of new places in the woods, wilderness, and quiet old buildings. I quickly grew found of most of the characters and their interactions and adventures. A relatable, timeless story for kids and grown up kids. My only reason for 4 stars is that I found the title to be too much of giveaway — I felt as if I knew the answer as soon as the book started. But none of this deterred me from wanting to slowly glide through each chapter and scene, breathing in all the quiet details.
