It had been a long time since I’d picked Watership Down<\/em>, and when I read it \u2014 I may have been 11 or 12 \u2014\u00a0 a lot of that particular book went over my head. I never actually finished it. I forget why. Nonetheless I had fond memories of reading it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So when I saw Season of Crows<\/em> by Prix Gautney, it immediately piqued my interest. And unlike the former, I finished this book, and rather quickly by my standards. Season of Crows<\/em> doesn’t dwell a ton on lore and backstory, but doesn’t avoid it. It’s well woven into the narrative. The opening sequences sealed the deal, and I was delighted with each new character introduction, though at times I was almost dizzy with how many there were. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the conversations and scenes flowed with a kind ease that pulled me through the pages. The world felt believable, comfortable, and had that tinge of “dang, I wish I<\/em> wrote this”. There’s action, peril, and even a bit of innocent romance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m glad there are other books in this series\u2026 looking forward to adding another to my TBR list.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
