I’m always surprised at how unstoppable I am when I have a concrete goal in mind. Without one, though, I tend to languish. I’ve often thought about all those 365 challenges, NaNoWriMo, etc. but never took the initiative. Then one day I heard this quote from Ira Glass, which, by this time I’m sure you’ve heard:
…It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.
He’s right. So, here I go. Something. Anything. Doesn’t matter if it’s big or small, epic or miniscule. It’s about transcending self criticism and just making things because I’m tired of just looking at the internet and wish I could create.
I plan to make something at least 5 days a week.
